1993 Green Creek Gao Shan - 50g

.

An aged, high altitude semi-green tea from the Nantou region from the Qing Xin cultivar. Harvested in 1993. It is a very high altitude oolong, the altitude of the hand harvest is 2300 m above sea level.

The appearance of the leaf is best specified by the photos, the colour of the pearls is dark brown with a hint of red.

A very nice tea and a beautiful example of a properly roasted archival oolong. Thanks to proper processing, the tea retains its original character, but there is no roasting that overpowers the original flavour of the tea. It's a difficult discipline, but if it can be done, the result is worth it, as in this case.

This tea is 30 years old, but it still retains the character of a highland oolong, its purity and surprising freshness. The tea has a rich, full-bodied flavour that combines its age, which is reminiscent of lightly roasted, sweetish nuts, with the fruity to floral component of highland oolong. Hard to describe.

Although an aged tea, it tastes very interesting. If you are not familiar with aged teas, you can try this oolong for starters. It's very good.

Preparation per 100ml - 6-7g, 95°C, 40s-1min., lasts 6 or more infusions, depending on your preparation method.

For aged teas I recommend a quick rinse, then let the tea rest for a while, smell it and then proceed to the first infusion.
