This tea is harvested in Beishan, Nantou county, at an altitude of around 1100m above sea level. The tea is grown under Nature Farming, i.e. without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, etc.
It is a cultivar originally imported from China - the so-called Heritage Wuyi, which are descendants of the rock plants from northern Fujian. Another element that makes this tea unique is the fact that lately the light, fragrant ollongs from other, more pleasing cultivars have been popular and thus this cultivar is less used. This tea belongs to the category infested by the Jacobiasca formosana locust, which causes the so-called MiXiang - honey aroma.
The aroma of the dry leaf is a combination of a mineral component with stone fruit. It is a Hong Shui type oolong which is medium oxidised and then roasted. The tea needs multiple infusions to reveal all its layers, textures and aromas.
The colour of the infusions is up to brownish-red, beautifully clear and with a full body. The infusion is then a combination of intense aromas and flavours of spices, fruit compote, roasted nuts and a very pleasantly sweet and lingering aftertaste.
A very pleasant experience for people who are not only looking for the light, floral and smooth oolongs that are now the trend.
