A delicious tea from the Darani tea garden, located in the southwestern part of Sri Lanka. According to the official designation it is a black tea, however, internally we call it Ceylon wuyi. The character reminds us of a very elegant, light wuyi oolong.
The tea is freshly harvested in late October 10/2023 and made to order for our shop. It is, of course, hand-picked. The garden is located at a lower altitude of around 100m, however, the important thing is the processing of the tea that makes it a true delicacy.
The tea is from the TRI.2026 cultivar, which is a cultivar from T.R.I - The Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka and is specifically for the area, TRI.2026 is specifically for the Mid-Country wet zone.
The tea is medium bodied, very light and fresh drinking where stopping is necessary to take in the flavours. The tea reminds us of Mr. Peculiar in its character, which is a fine representative of Sri-Lankan teas, this one is even more subtle.
The tea is a combination of a light honey sweetness, a hint of Indian spice, ripe pear, and florality.
A very pleasant and interesting tea.
Preparation for 150ml - 5g, 95°C, 2,5 min. first infusion, second infusion 1-2 min, or adjust according to preference. Lasts at least 3 infusions.
