Jin Tanikawa Mogake Komainu Shiboridashi - 100 ml
.
Shiboridashi by master Jin Tanikawa, 180 ml, decorated using the Mogake method and with a Komainu “lion” handle. Tijsou are considered guardians who protect sacred places from evil spirits and impurities.
The Shiboridashi is made of light brown clay and decorated with the Mogake pattern, which was developed in the 19th century. Before firing, the pottery is wrapped in Amamo seaweed, and during firing in the kiln, a reaction occurs between the minerals in the seaweed and the surface of the teapot. The result is a unique “burnt” pattern, see photo. This may vary slightly on each teapot, as they are originals.
A collector's item.
