Konishi Yohei Dragon Yohen Kyusu - 150ml

A teapot by Japanese master Konishi Yohei with a dragon motif, which is sculpted in relief, one of the typical features of this master's work. The teapot is made of red clay and is precisely crafted.

The volume of 150 ml is without tea leaves; the resulting volume when brewing tea is approximately 120 ml.

I personally selected these teapots during a visit to a tea master in Japan.

Packed in a signed paulownia wood box.

Before use: rinse the teapot in hot water and let it dry completely before first use.

Maintenance: do not use detergents, dishwasher. Clean by hand, with clean water, without chemicals. Do not clean, clean with detergents. The teapot should be left to dry after each use.

Master's profile:

1941 - Born in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Eldest son of the craftsman Jusen of Tokoname. 
1959 - Graduated from the ceramics department of Tokoname High School.
Mr. Konishi Yohei entered his first work in an exhibition in 1960, one year after graduating from high school, and has been active as a potter ever since. 
He has had a long and illustrious career, during which he has won prizes at prestigious exhibitions in Japan and abroad.

Awards received:

1960 & 1962 - Awarded at the Japan Contemporary Ceramic Crafts Exhibition.

1961- Awarded at the Japan Ceramic Crafts Exhibition

1978 - awarded a silver medal at the Vallauris Ceramic Exhibition in France

1980 to 1984, 1993 - awarded at Japan Traditional Ceramic Crafts Exhibition

1981 - Became a member of Japan Traditional Ceramic Crafts Association       

1983 to 1986- awarded at Chunichi International Ceramic Exhibition

1997- awarded at Japan Traditional Ceramic Crafts Exhibition for his "Rihi (pearskin) teapot"

In addition to these awards, he is the recipient of the Choza Award and also won the top prize at the 1st Tokoname Ceramic Design Competition.

He served as the President of the Tokoname Art Association in 2001 and 2002 and was recognized as a Tokoname Intangible Cultural Property in 2008.

Mr. Konishi Yohei has also exhibited extensively at renowned galleries and major department stores throughout Japan.
