Teapot by Japanese master Masaaki Kobashi. A Bizen-Yaki ceramics master who works with precision and uses the power of fire to achieve unique results. This particular teapot is with Hidasuki decoration. Rice straw is wrapped around the teapot before firing, the alkaline substances in the straw react with the iron in the clay to create red or orange "hidasuki" patterns. In Ao-bizen, the straw is used in conjunction with a reducing medium to achieve blue hues.
I am honored to have these teapots on offer, we are one of the few places in the world where these works are available. The master specializes in tea pottery only, kyushu teapots, classical type teapots and also hohins. In his work, he uses well-known methods such as Hidasuki, Goma ash glaze, Haikaburi, and the black and grey Sangiri pattern.
This is truly the highest class of teapots and tea pottery from Bizen, a collector's item. It is a privilege to prepare delicious Japanese tea in this pottery.

Care and use. It is very strong and also fragile. It is recommended to use these teapots at room temperature, it is not advisable to make tea in freezing and cold conditions.
Bizen ceramic is mostly suitable for green teas and this is also because of the temperature of the water. It is not recommended to use water warmer than 85C!
Maintenance: do not use detergents, dishwasher. Clean by hand, with clean water, without chemicals. Do not clean, clean, with detergents. The teapot should be left to dry after each use.
The strainers are very delicate, in case of clogging just rinse with water or clean carefully with a toothbrush.

Master's profile:
1976 Born in Okayama, Japan.
1998~ - Studied under Fumio Kuraishi (contemporary ceramist and artist, professor at Kagawa University). He studied teapot making and began making and studying kyusu.
2002~ - Studied under Takatori Kanzano (a bizen artist). He studied the techniques of Bizen ceramics.
2009~ - Started making teapots from Bizen pottery.
