Muzha Tie Guan Yin Winter Competition 2023 - 300g

Muzha Tie Guan Yin, tea that was awarded finalist grade and packed on 25/12/2023.

Here is assurance that this is a genuine Muzha TGY that has been approved by the competition judges as it has met their criteria for being declared an authentic and correctly made Muzha Tie Guan Yin. Muzha is famous for producing highly oxidized oolongs and they are not always available in the market.

This tea has a smooth, layered complexity that challenges the palate, although heavily roasted, the roast flavor is beautifully balanced with the other flavors.

The infusion combines flavors of dried fruit, roasted nuts, caramelized sweetness and spiciness, and minerality. The flavour gradually opens up in layers. The tea has, shall we say, a masculine character, it is strong but at the same time very well balanced. This is really a tea for lovers of more strongly roasted oolongs.

It has to be said that this is a very good tea for ageing. So if you leave the package unopened, the tea will age over the years, rounding out the flavours and mellowing the character. This is exactly how they let these competition teas age in Taiwan! It's delicious now, but will become a treasure in the years to come.

Brewing: 100ml, 7g, 95°C, the initial rinse of the tea is important, followed by a 55s first infusion, second and third infusions after 35s, then slightly prolonged.

You really need to use this weight if you want the tea to taste as it should.
