This is a medium oxidized oolong from the Ming Jian area, Nantou County. The cultivar used is Si Ji Chun. I bring this tea many times a year, there is always a fresh supply in stock. The last shipment was harvested in April 2024.
The "oxygenation" occurs in a nitrogen-rich atmosphere, which turns some of the substances in the tea into so-called gaba elements. Gaba oolong is one of the healthiest oolongs, with the highest content of antioxidants including catechin, flavanoids and polyphenol. However, to be able to list GABA in the name of the tea, it must contain at least 150mg/100g of tea.
The tea offers an orange-gold infusion, with a taste reminiscent of a combination of ripe fruit, raisins. This tea is pleasantly drinkable even in the early evening and offers multiple infusions.
Preparation per 100 ml: Gong Fu Cha - 6-7g of tea, 98C water, first pour 30-40s, then extend time interval. 3-4 infusions.
