Shizuoka Sayamakaori Oolong - 50g
.
A semi-green tea from the Shimada region of Shiizuoka Prefecture.
The base is a Sayamakaori cultivar from the late summer harvest.
The Sayama Kaori cultivar was registered in the 1970s and has spread widely throughout Japan. The Sayamakaori cultivar is named after the Sayama tea region, which includes Saitama Prefecture and a small part of northwestern Tokyo. It is a cold-resistant and very good growing variety, and was developed from the seeds of the Yabukita tea plant. The cultivar is therefore also suitable for more northern areas of Japan. I often use this cultivar in mountainous areas, which is where Shizuoka belongs.
The tea is very fresh, floral sweet, medium-bodied. A very drinkable and affordable oolong that will please any lover of lightly oxidized oolongs. The quality of oolongs from Japan is gradually shifting and it's a pleasure to watch :).
