Tsou Alishan Maocha 2022 - 30g

Highland maocha from Taiwan, sounds strange, I know, but it's true.

The producer likes to experiment and so it came to producing maocha tea from the Chin Xin cultivar. In testing and debating, I was told that it basically doesn't taste like maocha, but a mix of Dan congu, maocha, yellow tea and lightly oxidized high altitude Taiwanese oolong. This mix probably best describes what to expect. A fusion, between different teas due to the Taiwanese cultivar and non-standard processing.

The aroma of the dry leaf is light, fresh, floral.

The infusion is a soft golden colour, medium-bodied, clean, refreshing and combines fresh mountain herbs and grasses in the taste, with a floral hint, in the background a combination of fresh pear, gooseberry, yellow melon.

It's a rarity I've never encountered before, unavailable again. Like everything from this garden, it is of excellent quality. This is, of course, a hand-picked Chin Xin cultivar from the spring of 2022.

Location: Alishan Mountain Range.
Altitude: 1200-1500m
Cultivar: Chin Xin
Leaf type: whole leaf tea
Harvesting type: hand picking, bud and two leaves

Preparation: Gong-fu cha, 100ml, 5-6g, 95°C, 40s for the first infusion.
Second and third infusion 35-45s, then extend the interval each time by 10-20s compared to the previous one.
Lasts for many infusions.
