The absolute top among Taiwanese black teas.
A very carefully crafted leaf rolled into large spirals of black-brown colour. Already dry leaf offers an intoxicating aroma of wild cherry, honey and exotic fruits.
The infusion itself is a truly divine nectar, dominated by sweet cherries, light citrus acidity and hints of exotic fruit. The flavour is full-bodied and full-bodied while the tea is very drinkable, clearly recognisable and soothing.
The tea was hand-harvested in the Sun Moon Lake area of Nantou County, at an altitude of around 700m. Maximum oxidation, no final roasting. The cultivar used was of course Hong Yun, TRES No.21. This cultivar was developed in a Taiwanese research institute in 2008 and is therefore not as readily available due to its limited distribution. The cultivar is a cross between the Assamica cultivar from Kyang, Assam and the famous Keemun (Qimen) cultivar from Anhui, Huangshan Mountains, China.
It is not a daily drinker, it is a festive delicacy.
Preparation per 100ml - Gong fu Cha - 5-7g, 98°C, 35-45s min. first infusion, second infusion can be slightly shorter, then extend the time interval. Lasts 4-6 pours (maybe more :).
