Zuo Ruyu Sun-Link-Sea QinYu Oolong 2023
.
Another oolong from master Zuo Ruyu. This time tea from Sun Link Sea Tea Forest, from 1000m altitude and from TRES No.22 - Qin YU cultivar.
The tea is partially oxidized (20-30%) and heavily roasted. Zuo Ruyu strives to make original teas, using non-widespread cultivars. You won't find much information on TRES No.22.
This tea is not one of those primordially pleasing, slightly oxidized highland oolongs so admired by novice Taiwanese oolong drinkers.
It's heavily roasted leaf, and in character it goes towards the Muzha Tie Guan Yin treatment, and in flavour it's in the category of fuller and denser oolongs, but with less oxidation.
The aroma of the dry leaf is subtle, woodsy, slightly sweet mountain herbs.
The taste of the tea is very clean, delicate, very interesting, hard to describe. Light nuances of exotic fruits, whiffs of high mountain forest full of mature coniferous cryptomeria, forest herbs. Those conifers keep coming to mind as I drink. A special oolong that is not for novice TW oolong drinkers.
The tea can really withstand many infusions, 8 for sure.
It is suitable for aging. The stated shelf life is 04/2043.

Brewing 100 ml:
Gong Fu Cha - 4g tea, 98C water, rinse, first pour 30s, 2-8 pours of 25-30s each, depending on personal preference.
I recommend really small volumes, 150ml maximum. Its quality is designed for this.
