Red Jade TRES.18 Gaba Oolong 2025 

This is a gaba oolong tea from the Ming Jian area of Nantou County. It uses the TRES.18 Red Jade, or Hong Yu, cultivar, which was hand-picked in March 2025. Spring tea is more suitable for gaba, as it has a fuller flavor and a more pronounced aroma.

The tea has a “oxidation” level of 60-70% in a nitrogen atmosphere. “Oxidation” occurs in a nitrogen-rich atmosphere, causing some substances in the tea to change into so-called GABA elements. GABA oolong is one of the healthiest oolongs, with the highest content of antioxidants, including catechins, flavonoids, and polyphenols. However, in order to include GABA in the name of the tea, it must contain at least 150mg/100g of tea.

The tea offers an orange-gold infusion, and the taste naturally includes the flavor elements of the TRES.18 cultivar, which is known for its taste combining spicy ripe fruit and eucalyptus, but at the same time it is honey-sweet, smooth, and very pleasant to drink.

Brewing for 150 ml:

Gong Fu Cha - 5-7g of tea, water at 98°C, rinse, first infusion 50-60 seconds, subsequent infusions 30-40 seconds. Lasts for 5 or more infusions.
