Zuo Ruyu Hualien Noon Yellow Tea 2015

.

Another tea from master Zuo Ruyu. This time, it is a representative of yellow teas, which rarely appear in the offer.

This one has also been aged for 10 years. The tea was harvested on June 20, 2015, and the leaves were picked in just two hours :) 11:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. during the Dragon Boat Festival that year. For locals, tea produced during this period, under the Tropic of Cancer, where Hualien is located, has unique value and taste. They believe that during this period, the tea has an exceptionally high content of polyphenols and catechins in the tea leaves, making the taste and aftertaste fuller and more refined than teas from other periods. However, I am always interested in the specific result :).

A beautifully processed leaf that resembles cliff oolongs in appearance. The aroma of the dry leaf is fresh and fruity, and the producer says we should be able to smell brandy in it :).

The taste of yellow tea from Taiwan has its own specific flavor profile, and in the case of aged tea, the aging process gives it a deeper, fuller taste that is beautifully rounded. The floral tones of young yellow tea transition more into tones of darker forest honey combined with dried chamomile and chrysanthemum flowers, all combined with fruity tones of dried dates and apricots.

If you want to discover a different side of Taiwan than the standard oolongs, it would be a mistake to miss this tea. Zuo Ruyu has prepared another unique specialty for us.

Brewing for 150 ml:
- 6 g of tea, water at 90-95°C, first infusion 45-60 seconds, subsequent infusions 15-35 seconds, according to personal preference, lasts for many infusions.
I recommend a smaller volume pots, maximum 150 ml.
