High mountain silver needles from Java, beautiful tea and organic production in the Ciwidey area, near Mount Tilu.

Indonesia produces mostly lower quality teas, but this tea is a beautiful exception and I don't think anything better than this master's production can be found in this area.

The leaves were hand-harvested in early May, 5/5/2025 to be exact, at an altitude above 1,400m, from the GMB3, GMB7 cultivar. 

The name of the cultivars comes from the Indonesian Tea Research Institute, which is based in Gambung, and are therefore Indonesian cultivars.

Beautifully crafted, medium sized, silver fluffy needles. The dry leaf smells like sweet honey wheat with a fruity hint.

The taste is light, fresh, floral-fruity, beautifully aromatic, coppery-sweet. The aftertaste is fresh, sweet, long-lasting. 

Simply the best of Java! I have to say that this is only the beginning in my opinion, I got my hands on more samples of very interesting oolongs, black teas. This location is yet to make its presence known and it is an honour to be present at the production of the first top organic teas from Java.

Brewing for 100ml:

3g, 90C, 30s first infusion. Subsequent infusions 30s according to personal preference, you can even extend if you want fuller infusions, do not over infuse. Lasts for many pours, 5-7, maybe more.

Brewing for 200-300ml:

3-5g, 85C, 2-3min.
